Marlon Pereira was born and raised in South Florida.Since childhood, he’s held a fascination with the sea’s beauty, color, and life. As a young teenager, he took his first snorkeling trip in the Florida Keys and was instantly captivated by the beauty of the marine realm. This trip marked the birth of his journey to explore the underwater world.
As an avid diver, Marlon often became frustrated by his inability to communicate the astounding beauty of his underwater experiences with friends and family. For that reason, he took his first underwater photo in 2000 and was instantly hooked. Through trial and error, he saw vast improvements in his photography and became serious about his work in 2002. The purchase of his first SLR in 2004 ushered in Marlon’s first land and nature photographs, with the nearby Florida Everglades serving as his inspiration. Photography is suited well to one of Marlon’s other loves – travel. Marlon has traveled globally in an effort to explore and capture the world’s coral reefs. As an environmentalist, Marlon has come to appreciate the fragility of the world’s marine life and the necessity of its protection.
